DIRT CAKE WITH DAD
Gavin has a Ratatouille Cookbook and has been eyeing two desserts in there for the last week or so. Frank took him to the store tonight to get all the necessary ingredients for Remy's Dirt Cake. It is not the traditional dirt cake that you're probably thinking of but the kids had fun making it and it was yummy.
Way to go my little chefs!!

A Week of Camps

Gavin and Ellie finished VBS today. They both went all week and loved it. The theme was Jerusalem market place. Gavin also had Science camp this past week and learned all about magnets, gravity, light, color, and simple machines. It was by far the best camp he has been to. All in all it was a busy but fun week. I felt like a professional chauffeur with all the driving back and forth I did with two camps a day. Here are Gav and Ellie on the last day of VBS.
MY SLEEP

10:45 pm- I go to bed

11:15 pm- Ellie sleep walks downstairs...I try to let her snuggle us but she is so restless and squirmy she wakes up Hadley so I carry her back upstairs

11:40 pm- I feed Hadley and get her back to sleep- back to bed for me.

12:30 am- Ellie sleep walks back in the room...I try once again to snuggle her but she is VERY restless and keeps kicking and turning so I bring her back to her room

1:45 am- Hadley wakes up, I put the paci in her mouth and she goes back to sleep.

3:00 am- Hadley wakes up again and the paci won't do so I feed her.

4:15 am- Hadley is up and thinks it is time to get up for the day...I finally get her back down around 5:30 am.

6:15 am- Gavin comes down and is ready for breakfast.

6:45 am- Ellie comes down and is ready for breakfast.

7:00 am- Hadley is up and ready to eat.

Now this was my night last night and it is a typical night lately. With Ellie coming down (and sometimes Gavin too) and Hadley all of the sudden waking up a lot again- I am zonked most days. Why do I still go to bed at 10:45 or 11pm every night?? Because after the kids are all asleep- Usually around 9pm (after fighting them to get back in bed over and over again)- that is usually my ONLY time to myself all day and I don't want to go to bed...I want to get things done or relax. Ohhhhh the joys of motherhood. I am looking forward to a little sleep- hopefully it is just around the corner. At least a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. I can't remember the last time I slept for more than 3-4 hours at a time. So when you see me and I have bags under my eyes...or look a little out of it...you will understand why.

Oh What a Night

It was Tent City night in our house Saturday. This is a fun thing Frank does with the kiddo's in the game room. I think we need to wait until Hadley is sleeping through the night for us to join them. Frank builds a little "tent city" with old sheets and they all snuggle up under them. It was a great night until about 3 am when Ellie came down with a bug and got sick all over herself and Frank. And I had made them blueberry pancakes for dinner the night before to boot- not the easiest thing to clean up. Poor Ellie Belly (who is just fine now) and poor Daddy!! But they sure had fun until that happened. I think they are going to try it again soon- hopefully they will have an easier night next time.

Date Night and New Hair

Friday was a wild and crazy day for me....I decided on a whim to try out being a brunette. I definitely like being a blond better, but Frank is digging the new color so I figured I will stick with it awhile. I've been blond my entire life so this is a BIG change for me. Friday we went out on a date to our usual Anniversary spot- Amerigo's. We had our rehearsal dinner there and make sure we eat there every year on our anniversary. Since it was father's day last Sunday(our true anniversary), we celebrated Friday instead. We had a great time. Had our same little table, same waiter, and went and danced in the piano bar after dinner. The singer even sang "Lady in Red" for me. It was such a fun night! I guess Brunettes can have just as much fun as blonds.

COUSINS

Today my niece and nephew came to play for the day. Gavin and Ellie LOVE their cousins. Gavin follows Mitchell around and Ellie follows Ryan around. Poor Mitchell had Gavin who is in the phase of asking "Why this....why that..." about everything. And Gavin thinks he is the same age as Mitchell. He likes to do everything he does. We were at the park fishing and Ryan, Ellie and I were hot and were starting to pack the car and Gav said, "Mitch and I are just gonna stay...you girls go." Totally serious, like I let him play at the lake by himself all the time. Ellie on the other hand had fun swimming after Ryan and LOVED playing play dough with her. She threw the Frisbee a few times with us but was a little too hot. Anyway, it is sweet to see their love for their cousins.

Little Gymnast

So yes, she is wearing her ballet costume- but it works for gymnastics also- right?? Ellie started gymnastics today with her two girlfriends Lexie and Masie and LOVED it. She's been talking about it all afternoon. This was her first day of "real" gymnastics. We've done little mommy and me gym places in the past but this was the real deal folks. It is funny to me that she is taking gymnastics at the same place I did when I was little and it hasn't changed at all. It all still looks exactly the same.
She loved ballet, but I am beginning to wonder if gymnastics will soon be her new favorite....guess time will tell.

The Morgan Five
Out of Gavin's Mouth

Gavin: Daddy, when is God going to call you to Heaven?
Daddy: I don't know buddy, why?
Gavin: How old are you?
Daddy: Thirty-three
Gavin: Thirty-three is like past the biggest number.

I Finally Gave In

Well it's been almost 2 years since Frank has been wanting to get Ellie's ears pierced and about a year since Ellie has been asking me. I kept thinking we would wait until she's older so she'd really remember it, but with her wanting them and talking to a few friends- I gave in. A friend of mine pierced both of her girls early and my sister was telling me I should go ahead and do it while she wants to because she'll be too scared when she's older. Last night, like many nights as I was laying in bed with her she rubbed my earrings and said, "Mom, I like your earrings...I want earrings too." So after her asking us countless times today, we took her to Sweet and Sassy tonight to get them done. She told us as we were walking in, "it's going to hurt- but only for a minute." She was so brave! She brought her pink B.B. (her blanket) in and sat on Daddy's lap while they pierced both ears at the same time. The gun got stuck on one of the ears but she was a trooper. When I looked at her ears I realized they gave us the wrong earrings, so they gave me the others for free. So we got two pairs of earrings for the price of one. In six weeks I can put the ones we bought in. Anyway, as you can see from the pictures it wasn't too traumatic for her. Even though everyone said I should, I just couldn't get Hadley's done tonight...tonight was all about our Ellie Belly!

Waiting patiently while they load the gun:

Here we go:

I'm already laughing and still in the chair:

Look at my pretty earrings:
