Bitter Sweet

Well, we got another one. An offer that is. In four weeks we have had 39 showings, 2 offers, 4 people ask for disclosures saying they are going to make an offer (but didn't), 4 second showings, 1 third showing, and finally 1 solid contract. Man selling a house is a lot of work. I must admit I have been like a maid on speed these last few weeks. I feel like all I have been doing is cleaning. I even told our maid to not come the last two weeks because there was nothing for her to do here- it was spotless. Hopefully now that we have a contract things will slow down and we can "live" in our house again. We have pretty much been living hour to hour and some days minute to minute. Did I mention 39 showings?? Geeeshhh!!

So the plan. We close on our house here September 8th. We fly out to Birmingham this week to look at the homes that were in our top few (since the one at the top sold ) and at a few more that are either new to the market or have been lowered into our price range. It is crazy how bad the economy has affected the housing market out there. When they do a price reduction...they really do reductions. We are lucky here in our little bubble where housing is still holding steady. Gavin's school starts this Tuesday out in Birmingham. He will obviously miss his first day and possibly first few weeks. However there is a chance that if we find a house that is new or vacant..and a few are, we can possible lease them for a few weeks until we close on our house here. We have the movers all lined up and all they need is a week notice. (Deep Breath...Deep Breath..)

So that's the scoop here in our little world. I will keep you all posted on our house hunting progress!! But as for now, we have another closing date....

Bitter Sweet...Bitter Sweet....

Can't wait for the Tooth Fairy

Gavin lost his first tooth today. He has been so excited ever since the Dentist said he would loose it in a few months after looking at his xrays- 4 months ago. Ever since then he has been fixated on when he would loose a tooth. Well, about two weeks ago, one became loose and every day he has us wiggle it to prove it is a little looser. Today we were eating lunch and it was wiggly....but not enough for me to pull it out. My parents came to meet us and when my Dad walked in Gavin said, "Pepa...feel my tooth it finally started to bleed today." So my dad put his hand in his mouth and instead of wiggling it, he just yanked it. Gavin was thrilled. He had the biggest smile on his face. He was so proud as blood was filling up in his mouth. It was kind of funny how ecstatic he was. I didn't have my camera with me but luckily for the good ol' iphone I was able to take a few pictures. All day he's been telling us he's extra tired and is going to go to bed early tonight. At dinner he asked if it was almost bed time. Let me remind you that this is the kid who begs to stay up late every night. Anyway, tonight he is excited, hoping the tooth fairy will come. We have his little tooth fairy pillow that his Grandma gave him when he was one. I remember getting the pillow and thinking, "It will be years before we'll ever use this." But here we are and that thought seems like yesterday. Tonight the tooth fairy will come and leave him something special. We told him for your first tooth sometimes she brings a toy and after that money. If I were a betting woman, I'd say the tooth fairy will arrive with a new DS game tonight. ;0)
