A Beautiful Day for Kites and Bubbles

After two days of rain the weekend was absolutely beautiful and we took full advantage of it!! Saturday was my nieces birthday party and for party favors the kids got new kites and a bubble wand. Needless to say they begged all afternoon for us to go to a park to use their new toys. We decided to do a picnic at the park for dinner and then fly our kites and play with our bubbles. The kids had a blast. Ellie got her kite really high..it was hard to even get a picture of her with her kite. She was all smiles as she ran all over the field and she screamed at me, "Look Mommy, my kite is up as high as Jesus." I think she meant Heaven but it was so cute.

Bluebonnet Pictures

We had our pictures taken last week in the bluebonnets. I was shocked to get the proofs today, and see that we actually had some really cute ones. Our photographer did great, considering Miss Hadley did not want to participate and it was really windy so hair was blowing everywhere. Thanks Shannon for some great pictures!!

And we even got one with Lexie because their session was after ours...

The Rodeo and A Girls Dream Come True

Yee-haw!! We took the kids to the Rodeo on Friday and boy did they love it. We all loved it. We went with our good friends the McKellars and the kids had just as much fun as we did. We did the Carnival first. Ellie wasn't quite tall enough to ride many rides- luckily for her bow she passed for a few of them. And we had to win them each stuffed animals. After buying too many tickets and finally winning them both something (go mommy) I realized that inside the arena they had cheap stuffed animals that were way cuter. Oh well. Then we headed to see the animals. The highlight for us was the new baby pigs just born yesterday. They were so cute!! They made Frank actually want to go buy a pig for our kids to raise. You know there would be NO WAY we could give up a pig if we raised it for a year. Needless to say, I don't see me giving into a pig joining our family any time soon even though they are cute. After eating my old Aggie favorite, Freebirds we went to the kiddie area for the kids to ride ponies, play in a farmers market area, watch pig races and ride a mechanical bull. Yes, even Ellie rode the bull. Gavin wanted to but I didn't think Ellie would want to. I asked her, "are you sure?" and she said, "yes, it's real right?" She is quite the dare devil. After walking around for almost 4 hours we were all ready to go take our awesome seats for Taylor Swift. For those of you that know Ellie- you know she is in LOVE with her and has been for quite some time. She has both of Taylor Swifts cd's, Taylor Swift barbie, and a guitar like Taylor Swift. She knows more words to the songs than I do. And we tape her performances on t.v. so Ellie can sing and dance to them over and over again. Well, the concert started about 1.5 hours after her bed time and after our busy day we were exhausted. After all she came on 7 hours after first arriving at the Rodeo. But she was wide eyed, fighting her fatigue, munching on pretzels, cotton candy, and funnel cakes as she waited for her idol to come out. She loved it. She fell asleep right before her favorite song, Love Story. But when she was falling asleep...I was watching as she fought it...she had the biggest smile on her face. She fell asleep smiling. It was so cute. She never woke up until this morning. She didn't budge as we walked back to the car, got her in her car seat, and then to bed. She woke up in her new Taylor Swift shirt and said, "I missed Love Story!" Maybe next year she'll get to hear her favorite song. :) Anyway, it was a fun day. Thanks again Greg and Stacy for an awesome day!! Mom and Dad, thanks for watching Hadley. I know she had a blast too!! What fun memories!

First Few Days of Spring Break

The kids are on Spring Break this week and we tinkered with a few destination places and then decided we'd rather go on vacation when it is not Spring Break. So we decided to do a few things around here. On Monday we went and got lots of vegetables and planted them. The kids LOVED it. They each picked out different things...along with mommy's tomatoes. They had fun planting their plants and watering them. But, they especially loved when I got the water hose out and started spraying them in their clothes and then let them play jump rope in the water. They thought I was so cool. They were telling all the neighbors how I sprayed them in their clothes..it was really cute. Tuesday Frank took off work and we took the kids to the Houston Aquarium. We did the train ride, saw all the tanks, white tiger, ate at the restaurant and played a few games. The kids had blast. But I must say Hadley liked the fish the most. She kept pointing at the fish saying, "f-i-s." But Gavin and Ellie enjoyed the petting part. They got to pet tame stingrays that actually come up to you for you to pet them. It was a fun day.
Then today we went to Brehnam to the Bluebell Ice Cream Factory. We weren't the only one's with that idea- it was packed. But it was fun. We waited patiently for a little over an hour to do the 15 minute tour, but it was fun. While we waited Hadley had fun walking up and down the line, waving and smiling at random people. Ellie and Gavin tagged along with her for a while. We then enjoyed the tour and of course the ice cream at the end.
Anyway, here are a few pictures from our first few days of Spring Break 2009:
