A friend of mine talked me into asking the kids if they wanted to do swim team. Once they knew their friends were going to do it, they were all in. Because we are new to swim team and have never done it before, all three kids had to try out today. I heated the pool this week and worked with Hadley. She has been swimming since she was two, but we never focused on strokes. In order to make the team, she had to swim freestyle 25 meters, and backstroke 25 meters- two full laps. Gavin and Ellie had to do those two along with breast stroke. I was fairly confident they would make it, but was a little uncertain how Hadley would do.
Gavin went first...I think he thought he was already racing in a meet because he zoomed down the lanes back and forth and even did an extra lap for fun....
When he was done, Hadley was ready to strut her stuff...she jumped off the edge and just started going...she rocked it and did the best she has done all week. I was so proud of her. I was running down the lane cheering her on....
Then Ellie took off...
She was slow and steady but definitely was the best at staying in the center of her lane the entire time.
The Goggles crack me up...love how they pull their eyes down...HA...
We have friends on two teams, and both sides have been trying to persuade us their way. But as it worked out, there was only one spot where Ellie could join because the other team was full for her age group...so I was thankful to not have to choose between them. We weren't splitting the kids up.
SOOOOO........
These three are officially on the HURRICANES...and they are EXCITED!!!
So Proud of them!
