Hadley's Big Girl Room

Hadley has been in her Big Girl bed for a few months now. It has just taken awhile for me to come around to take pictures and blog about it. I really like the shabby chic look of a bedroom but wanted something a little more spunky than Ellie's room because Hadley is just a spunky girl. I wanted it to fit her personality, and it was kind of fun decorating a little different from Ellie's. I wanted spunky but still soft and sweet. I am a quilt kinda girl and have never bought a duvet before. I was sure I wanted a quilt and even bought and returned too many to admit because I kept coming back to the first thing I bought for her bed- a duvet. Her baby room was pink and brown. I think it was kind of the trendy thing to do at the time and again, I was was going for something different than Ellie's vintage room. But I was kind of over the pink and brown when doing her big girl room and wanted some more color. And I've always liked pink and green together.

Here is how her room used to look....well kind of...I can't find a recent picture of how it actually looked when it was finished...This was the beginning stages....but you get the idea...

Being the third child, you get the smallest room of the house as it's the last room to take. My craft room became her bedroom. Her room most definitely could not fit a full sized bed like her siblings, so we got her a twin for her big girl room.
I am in love with a little guy in Tomball called Leonard. I bought Ellie a real antique bed there when she got a big girl bed, and I went back to him again for Hadley. This is how the bed looked when I bought it:

I had Leonard add six inches to the headboard, like I did with Ellie's so that it would be taller than the foot board and you would be able to see the pretty design. I just fell in love with it. Leonard sand blasted it and then I brought him the paint to paint it the color that matched her dresser. So even though it is a PRE-CIVIL WAR real antique bed, there is no lead paint on it. (So for those of you who were worrying...you can stop!) After he painted her bed I antiqued it so you could see the character of it a little better.

So here is Hadley's room now, I think it fits her personality perfect and she loves it. I painted her the chandelier canvas and many nights as I am snuggling her she points to it and thanks me for painting it for HER. She can be so sweet.

And she loves this little birdie that is hanging by her bed. She always says, "Nigh Night Birdie" before going to bed. :)

Oh it turned out SO good! It is still soft yet has spunk to it. The bed is fabulous! Pre-civil war, does she know what a treasure she is sleeping on?!?! Love what you did. Want to come and consult for my house?

It looks great! And I remember all those quilts you had in the back of your car. Too funny! I love the one you decided on, plus it kinda looks quilty. I'm glad she loves it so much. Can you help me with my girls' rooms? I'm still not finished with them!!

Looks cute! I love iron beds, too. The girls each have one, and they were actually mine from when I was growing up.

Looks amazing Lace! You did a great job. It fits Miss Hads just perfectly. Can't believe you finally decided on the bedding. I honestly didn't know if you would ever stop buying quilts.

Her room is adorable!!! I saw your comment that she wants an American Girl. She needs a Bitty Baby!!! My girls each got thiers at 18 months and Gracyn's will be coming at Christmas. I don't know what it is about those dolls but they LOVE them. "Bailee" and "Susie" are like my 4th and 5th child. They go everywhere we go!!! She would love it. :)
