Cauliflower

Our sweet Cauli passed away this past Sunday. It was a sad, sad, SAD day in the Morgan house. The kids had never lost a pet before. Their first loss was a hard one. They loved their little Cauliflower. Before we had a proper burial for her, the kids each made her pictures and letters to throw in the box with her.

And then all five of us stood around crying while we buried her and the kids told her how much they will miss her, how much fun they had with her, and goodbye. It was so hard to see the kids so heartbroken.

Gingerbread Houses

My my came over to make the annual Gingerbread houses with her babies. They always look forward to doing this with her. This year she bought a train, house and toy box so they each got to decorate their own gingerbread figure. Their mission this year----How much candy can we get to stick to it??? And how much can we eat while making it???

Outside Lights

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!!!

We were more than excited to get our Christmas stuff out....we LOVE Christmas and have been excited to decorate!

The tree however wasn't as anxious. It didn't survive the move...after putting it all together we realized the tree lights were cut and branches were falling out. Sooo....we headed out to find a new one. We thought we'd go a little taller and more narrow. We didn't really find much we liked, but didn't have too many options and wanted to get it done. So we ended up coming home with one. We got it all together. I put all the ribbon and picks in it and then it was time to decorate. Frank and I were so excited, we had on holiday music, and our kids were in a rather Ba'Humbug spirit. I looked at Frank and said, "Let's just do it tomorrow night." But we looked around at all the ornaments and boxes thrown all over our room and decided to try and cheer the kids up. Gavin was not all that interested, they were fighting over who got to hang what ornament. I looked at Frank again and said, "Another night." But once again we looked at everything we had taken out and kept singing Christmas songs trying to lighten the mood...and then the "new" ornament for the year was to be hung. Ellie was going to hang it and fell and it shattered on the floor. She ran upstairs crying and then Gavin went to hang the "new" ornament from last year and he slipped and it shattered. Now we had two crying kids. Ahhhh.... Merry Christmas.

We finally rallied our troops and got the tree decorated. May not have been the most fun we've ever had getting the tree up--- but she got up...and I think she looks really pretty.

Ice Skating

With Bearzy in town, we were wanting to spend as much time with him, Aunt Tay and Scotty as possible. They invited us to go ice skating and the kids were stoked! It was fun spending time with them and a great way to start the holiday season off too!

Thanksgiving 2012

It was our first year to host Thanksgiving. We had both sides of the family over and had a great time even though we missed Cord, Jamie, and Kelly. We ate WAY too much food, watched a fabulous Texan Football win, and had my parents, to die for, fried turkey. We played with our cousins, bounced on the trampoline, played football, and took a *few* pictures. It was a great Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for.

Thankful Tree

I love pinterest. I found this cute little project for Thanksgiving and it made a lovely centerpiece. I let the kids do all the writing on their own- even Hadley. I simply cut the branches from trees out back and used my cricut to cut the leaves. I think it turned out pretty cute and I was in love with all the things they came up with that they are thankful for.

Little Trees

A few years ago the kids wanted little trees in their rooms. I went to the store and bought them all a little tree and then came home to open them and find that there was a big tag warning me that these little trees can cause cancer. I quickly packed them back up and returned them.

The kids asked for little trees again. I have loosened up a bit. Not only did we go and get little trees but we also got a blow up decoration for the front yard, which no offense to anyone out there, but I used to find cheesy. But they are only little once and I decided to cave on both this year.

So what did we do yesterday??? We shopped for Christmas. And when we got home?? We decorated Little Trees. They picked everything themselves. I did not stop Hadley when her tree decorations didn't match. (See---loosened up a lot!) I love that they love their little trees.

Hadley's tree was a lot of pink and purple. Here themed ornaments were Dora and Mickey Mouse. She put Candy garland and is the only kid who picked out colorful lights instead of white.

Ellie chose aqua blue as her main color. She chose "snowy" garland, and instead of a bunch of little ornaments, she got Hello Kitty...and her favorite, a Taylor Swift Guitar that plays music. She said she is going to have it play music to her ever night before bed. Ha.

Gavin, well he didn't have much to choose from. He ended up with some Rudolph ornaments, and the Muppets. A few months ago we assigned everyone a Muppet's character. His Muppet set has all of us represented on there but me, Miss Piggy. Yes, I got lucky enough to be her. :)~ He took his tree upstairs and was out the door with his football before I got a picture...maybe later. :)
