Halloween

I was so excited to be here on Halloween since I missed it last year. I had my parotid gland surgery on Friday at MDA so even though I wasn't feeling my best, it was still so nice to be here.

Surgery went well but was 2 hours vs 45 minutes and anesthesia and I are not great friends- at least afterwards. I am slowly coming out of the fog and not as nauseous. There was a slight complication during my surgery. The retractor that held my mouth open popped out my bottom front tooth that I had a crown on. So that was a surprise. When I woke up they asked me if I wanted the good news or bad news...I wasn't expecting that news for sure. When he told me, I said, "I guess I am ready for Halloween." They were happy that was my response, but I did start freaking out a little once anesthesia started wearing off. I was told I may need an implant but after lots of prayer my wonderful Dentist, Dr. Murphy fixed my tooth yesterday. Praise GOD!!! I have stitches in my mouth and stents (tubes) up in my glands and I am on a liquid/mush diet (that I am already tired of) for two weeks. But I know things could always be worse. Being down there always gives you a new perspective on things. I was lucky that was all that was wrong and that it could be fixed. Listening to the surgeries that were happening around me that day, I felt very blessed and lucky. My tubes will be out just in time for Thanksgiving. Funny how the last two years, Thanksgiving has been something I have looked forward to more than ever.

So, please ignore the PJ's at 4:30 in the afternoon while we carved pumpkins on Sunday....

The kids wanted to go free style this year. G and E carved their own pumpkins and Hadley wanted a kitty cat, so I tried my best.

Last night they dressed up and went to the neighborhood party before trick or treating.

We have such an amazing neighborhood. Almost every porch participates. And the Haunted house was even better than ever this year. Lots of people from all over come to our neighborhood to trick or treat. It really is a great night. I stayed inside most of the night but did see them off and went out every once in a while to hang with the neighbors.

It was a GREAT night.

The kids look so cute! I am so sorry your surgery was rough. Why does it always land around the holidays? You are so strong and have such a great sense of humor. I would not have been so kind! I hope all these freaky things leave you alone so you can get on with your spooktacular life. :)

I was just thinking today that I hadn't seen you around. Glad the surgery is over, but sorry about the tooth. Hope the 2 weeks of the yucky diet go by quickly. Your kids look so cute as always! That's so cool that you guys live in such an awesome neighborhood. I have wonderful childhood memories of trick or treating with all the neighborhood kids.
