We have had a Fun summer. Summers are always busy. We didn't end up doing the "school work" we (I) I had planned, but we had a fun summer and there were *some* educational things thrown in the mix. The kids read all summer, but they love to read so that wasn't really work to them.
Because it is so hot the kids have done a lot of this....
The kids got a new pirate ship float this summer and they all love it....
We have had a bunch of play dates with different people. The other day we met at Wendy's of all places where they had crafts, face painting, and story time. The kids loved it. I got a quick picture of these three little ones who all got the same face painting and are all three going to be in Kindergarten together in a few weeks. These three who are all hoping to be in the same class.
The Garden has been growing out of control. Who would have thought with this drought we are having?!? But I am not complaining. We have had a ton of tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, peppers, jalapenos and okra. And herbs. I have more mint, rosemary and basil than I know what to do with. The kids love watering it and love going to see if there are any goodies that we can use for dinner.
And Meyer Lemons are on their way....I CAN'T WAIT!!!
This little one went to a friends birthday party the other night at Sweet and Sassy and had her first limo ride. She was really impressed with how many t.v.'s were in the car. She had a blast and wore her hair like this for three days before I finally convinced her it was time to take it out.
SCIENCE- Gavin definitely is like his Mama and loves science. He always has. This week we made a weather station, a volcano, and he chipped at some cement to find fossils. Every day there is some other science experiment he is wanting to try.
Here was the volcano we made..
And my little scientist fossil digging...
Cricketing and setting up a classroom...
I have spent four of the last six days up at the kids school helping an old friend of mine in her classroom. We redid the entire thing. I miss decorating a classroom. We took down all her ocean stuff and replaced it with toile fabric that she loves (and wanted to put up last year but was too overwhelmed with the task by herself). She loves it. I drive her crazy with my suggestions but I think she loves what we have done. We did a lot of reorganizing, and moving centers around. We added a lot of pink and green thanks to the dear ol' cricket and Michael's. My neighbor let me use her cricket to cut out letters, stars, and all kinds of fun things for her bulletin boards. I've been cricketing for hours for the last three nights. I gave it back today, I think Frank will be happy to hear that when he gets home.
He will be happy because after doing things for my friends classroom, I decided to make a bazillion things for Ellie's upcoming birthday party. One of the many things I made were these cupcake toppers...super cute, right??
I still can't believe there is a six on there....but I won't get started...I'll leave the sappiness to her actual birthday post.
We have started back to school shopping. My mom always took me as a kid and I must admit I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE school shopping with my kids. Frank loves it too. He went with us today on his lunch break and we got a good start on back to school clothes at my two favorite stores- Gap Kids and Gymboree. It was so much fun! And we got some great deals too!
And my Mom took them last week and got them some shoes for school. They love shopping with her because she lets them pick out WHATEVER they want. I was pretty pleased with what they got. They will be perfect for school. Now if I can just get them to NOT wear them before school starts we'll be good.
It's been another fun filled few days around here.
Next week we are even busier with Ellie's birthday party, MD Anderson, and a weekend that Ellie got to plan all by herself for her birthday....
Until then....
