Finally Delivered...

Thanks for all the advice in my last post.

After much debating, comparing, and asking around...we finally decided on and purchased a washer and dryer. We had gone to buy them last week and they told us that all the appliances would be on sale over the Memorial weekend and No tax on energy star appliances- so we decided to let the laundry pile up for a few more days.

We went with the top loader LG Wave washer and steam dryer. It is supposed to be the same as a front loader, but doesn't leak or stink. NO AGITATOR is a dream and I was amazed that I could fit three of my usual loads into one load. Two weeks worth of laundry will get caught up in a hurry!!

So, yesterday I was told they would be here between 2:30 and 3:30. I called at 4 and they said they would be here by 4:30. Sure enough, they came around 5:30 instead. As the man is taking out my old washer and dryer I hear, "Miss Lacey.." He proceeds to tell me that we need a plumber out ASAP and he doesn't really think he should hook up my new washer and dryer because the valves in the back are so corroded and we need them replaced. "Is your husband or boyfriend handy?" Ha..Ha... Definitely need to call the plumber. He said in all his years, ours was the worst he has ever seen. Of course it was- it's my house.

I go back to preparing the dinner I am making for a friend and I hear a loud noise and then another, "Miss Lacey." So I go back and he says, "Hear that noise? It ain't supposed to make no noise. This here dryer is dented and broken so you need a new one." Pardon me?? Did you just tell me my new dryer is broken?? So, I get on the phone with Best Buy and wait on hold for a good 15 minutes after which I am sent to another store where I wait on hold. Finally someone picks up and informs me that the Woodlands store is the only one who can help me so they would transfer me back. Another 5 minutes and I get disconnected. Repeat that whole phone thing for a second time. After trying for an hour I call 1-800-BestBuy, who tell me I need to call this number and ask for a manager. The number she gives me, the same one I called twice earlier and waited on hold for.

So, I get in the car and head over to Best Buy. I immediately walk in the door and ask for a manager. He comes and I can tell he is new and doesn't really know what to do so he goes and gets a sales associate to ask her questions. After whispering for a good 15 minutes I am informed that my gas steam dryer is no longer available and on back order until July 2nd. I then had an outburst that I then had to apologized for. Really? So they said they would usually upgrade me, but we bought the best dryer they sell. So either I wait until July or return it. So I returned it and headed to Sears. Where the dryers are no longer on Memorial Sale and energy star appliances are no long tax free- boo! We should have just bought the stinkin' dryers before the holiday. I hate it when Frank is right and I am wrong.

Oh, and to make my day even more spectacular..... yesterday as I was making a friend dinner and I was waiting for the washer/dryer delivery....I open the oven and a puff of white smoke comes out. The oven is coated in a white powder and broken. So Mr. Appliance is coming out today. And I am thankful for a WONDERFUL neighbor who let me cook my friends meal at her house!! And sorry to my friend who must have been really confused when I kept calling to change the time I would delivering the meal.

Wonder what is going to break next??? Washer- Check, Dryer-Check, Grill- Check, Oven-Check.. Seriously...I feel like everything is falling apart in this place. Best Buy will be picking up their machine Saturday. And we will be getting our new dryer on Sunday. And then laundry will resume again as usual. Or so we hope.

Hate days like that but just think, you are leaving in about 24 hours to go on a girls weekend!!!!!
Let me guess, your house is 10 years old or older? That is usually EVERYTHING starts to fall apart. Always sell around 9 years old!!!!

oh my goodness, I cringed several times just reading your post. How did you not come unglued?!! That is so frustrating, but it looks like you are going to have two gorgeous, productive pieces of machinery. Isn't funny what gets us excited now?

Crazy! Funny how everything happens at once. Within a month at our 'old' house we bought a new washer, dryer, and double oven. Stinks! Looks like you picked out a nice set though Ms. Lacey.

Boo on Not-So-Best-Buy! What a frustrating ordeal, but sounds like your laundry work will be cut in half! That sure would make my day. :)

Holy cow Lace! Those days when nothing can go easy are so frustrating. I am sorry it was such a nightmare. Guess I won't be shopping at Best Buy for mine!
