Uncle Frankie

Last Weekend, on Father's Day, my uncle passed away. Frankie was an amazing man who I feel so fortunate to have had as an Uncle.
My Uncle took a job here in the 70's and moved his family here from New Jersey. My parents soon followed them and bought a house on the same street. We grew up and were raised with them right next door. They moved to Denton, Texas when I was older but we still saw them a few times a year. Frankie was a jolly, joyful man who always had a big smile on his face. He was not scared to talk about God and his beliefs and never said a bad word about anyone. He was always forgiving, and just let things roll off his back. He loved life, loved his family, and lived a great life.
A few months ago he had a big heart surgery that he came out of and was recovering from. The other day my Aunt had told us that he wasn't sleeping well and so they went to the doctor to talk about it. The doctor asked him why he wasn't sleeping and he said, "I am scared I won't wake up." The doctor then asked him if he is a believer and he said "yes, he knows and loves the Lord and knows where he will go when he closes his eyes forever." He then told the doctor that he is just scared to leave "her" and pointed to his wife, my Aunt. To which the doctor told him "she'd eventually catch up with him, she always does." I think he knew the end was near. Last Saturday night for the first time in weeks, my Uncle slept through the night. When he woke up Sunday morning he felt great. A few hours later he had a massive heart attack and passed away.
We all got together this passed weekend for his funeral and to celebrate his life. As sad as we are that he is not here, it does give me comfort to know that I will see him again someday. That this is just the end of this life for him, and that he is in Heaven. I have no doubt that Frankie boy is up there and will be waiting for all of us to meet him there when it is our time. And I am sure he is enjoying a candy bar or two guilt free in the meantime. :) :)

We love and miss you Frankie Boy! But I know this is not the end....

So sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing a great story about a great man. It's never easy for those left behind, but it sure does help knowing that He is in a better place. Hugs.
