Just last week I sat down and added to my calendar every school event and holiday for the 2009-2010 school year. For both Gavin's school and the girls preschool. I jotted western day, pajama day, Thanksgiving feast, Christmas parties, etc. I added the girls gymnastics schedule for the year, and had a tentative day for Gavin's tennis and Ellie's dance. I was pretty impressed with myself to have the year planned out. How quickly plans for an entire year can change.
Last Saturday morning Frank received a call with a great opportunity. Unfortunately, that opportunity requires us moving from the place we call home. The place we have pretty much always called home. For those of you that know us, you know this is a VERY hard decision for us, even though to many it would be a no-brainer. We grew up here, went to college and came back. Our family is here and we have friends who we think of as family here. I've always had this little fantasy that our kids, who have had friends since being days old, would know and grow up with these friends forever and ever. Sounds like a fairytale, right? It was mine anyway.
So this was a BIG decision. But, ultimately we feel that by Frank accepting the position we are doing what is best for our family in the long run. I am extremely proud of Frank. Extremely happy for him and we are going to make the most out of our new adventure and our fairytale is going in a new direction. As scary as it is, I have been praying for direction and for peace. For the first few days I kept questioning what the right decision was, weighing all the advantages and disadvantages, wondering how we would know and see the "signs" that this is the direction we should take. It is a long story, but the pieces seem to be falling into place, and I feel like I am getting more and more signs that this IS the right thing for us to do. I am constantly amazed that if you diligently ask for answers, you get them. I think this move will be great for us. That doesn't mean it's not scary for me, that I am not going to cry, and miss everyone terribly, because I do know me, and know it will be a big adjustment. But I am feeling much more at peace and know this is the right thing to do for our family.
So, where are we going??? We are soon to be residents of Birmingham, Alabama. That is where Frank's company is based. We had gone on a house hunting trip a few years ago so I feel like I kind of know the area. But, back then we ultimately decided that at that particular time in our lives it was best to stay here. This time, we feel like this is too good of an opportunity for Frank to pass up. And he is very excited about it. Gavin's school will start August 11th. Yep, you read that right. 4.5 weeks from now. And we have two vacations planned between now and then. Looks like we are going to be busy. So my calendar for 2009-2010 is about to get revamped. My how quickly things can change.

Many congratulations to Frank, we are so proud of him! You are a fabulous family and you all will flourish as you establish new roots. I feel your range of emotions and can only keep telling you that you will be richly rewarded in so many ways that only time will make apparent. We love you dearly and are ready to plan our first of many visits! See you in 6 days!
Congratulations to Frank! We will miss you!!!
Wow Lacey!
Congratulations. I know the Lord will bless you in your new home. He has proved faithfull to us in 4 states in 7 years of marrige. Each time we have moved, we were soon able to see the exact reasons that God has wanted us in that place. He has always provided an amazing church home and wonderful friends.
When Tommy and I married, I was teaching in the same school district I had graduated from. It was never in my plans to move all over the place. But, he has been incredibly blessed in his career and that has allowed me to be a Mommy! For that I am so blessed. Plus, I have seen and experienced so many things I would have missed inside my little bubble. Our last move was the fastest. We listed our house in The Woodlands on a Sunday, sold in on Tuesday, flew to Denver to house hunt on Friday and moved 30 days later. It was such a whirlwind, but probably better than having lots of time to dwell on moving.
I would start looking for a MOPS group now. Call and reserve a spot because they fill up, but it is the easiest way to meet Christian moms fast. Even if you don't know what church you will end up at, you can do MOPS anywhere.
Good luck, we will be praying for you!!!

Oh my!!!! I feel like I was just getting to know you Lacey. I am so happy for your family, but can totally relate to how hard it would be to move. You will really have to keep up with the blog when you move...
I can only imagine the emotions that you are going through right now. You all will be in our prayers.
Congrats. We will miss running into you...and T will miss his girlfriend...but am so glad we can keep up with you through your blog. :)
I can't believe it's true! You are such an anchor of the 'hood...you & your sweet family will be greatly missed. I've loved getting to know you over the last few years & am excited to follow your Alabama journey via blog. I've moved many times and it can be both scary & exhilarating, but I've never lost a friend that matters, and I always make new ones that do...
I know it's been such a hard decision for your family! Congrats to Frank on his big achievements! Gav starting school may be a GOOD thing, giving you a head start on meeting other moms. Thinking of you as you are about to get a whole lot busier!
I am glad you looked for a MOPS group, even if you don't end up memebers at that particular church, it is a good start. I did MOPS the first year at a church we found online and vistited for awhile, and then when we found a different church home, I switched to their MOPS the next year.
:)
Let me know if you need anything...I Am an old pro at this!
I know this an exciting and yet scary time for you guys!! Congrats to Frank on a wonderful job opportunity too good to pass up!! I will be praying for your family as you prepare for the move!! I know that the Lord is going to bless you for following his will!! I have enjoyed getting to know you & your family & look forward to keeping in touch with you by following your blog!! Love you girl, hang in there!!
What an adventure! I know that you and the family will be blessed. We will miss you but I know that we can keep up with you daily on your blog!
I can't believe Gavin starts school in 4.5 weeks.
WHAT??? NO WAY!!! Birmingham is beautiful I went there in February!! I love the Chick-fil-A owners there too! hahaha!
Congratulations on an exciting new adventure. I know that change is hard, but we grow as people so much when press through. I will miss getting to see you at girls nights, but we will still be BFF's (Blog Friends Forever)
Many Blessings Lacey! :)
Life has a way of throwing curve balls, doesn't it? Good to know God is in control!
I wanted to invite you to this weeks play group. You may be able to get a couple in before moving =(.
Here is the email- Hello Mamas,
This Wednesday playgroup will be at the Children's Museum at The Woodlands Mall at 12:00. It is upstairs across from Sears and has many hours of play time for our little ones. If you want to grab a quick lunch before we meet, come to the carousel at the food court at 11:30 and we can fuel up before we play! Please let me know if you will attend so that we don't leave without anyone!
See you then,
Audrey
The best part of God taking us out of our comfort zone is that He always has something beautiful in store. He is growing you! Though growing is hard, one day you will look back and understand why! We love your sweet family! I will keep praying Lacey.
Wow, Lacey! Congratulations to Frank! I know this was a big decision for your family, but what a fun, new adventure for all of you! Prayers for you that your move goes smoothly and that you will settle in quickly to your new home!
