Last Spring our church announced that the K-6th grade kiddos would have the opportunity to go to summer camp. I was a bit hesitant at first, but then we went and tried out a family day. We all loved it, and we decided to sign all three kids up. Hadley and Ellie were allowed to share a room and our youth pastor was going to be there with them so that made me feel a whole lot better.
We got there and we were greeted by college aged kids dancing, waiving, and chanting around our car. It is their way to welcome you to Carolina Creek. We quickly learned that Ellie and Hadley were going to be Zebra's and Gavin was a Tiger. The cabins all look like animals so they were easy to find.
They girls were excited to be in a cabin with their friends. And thier bunks were all on the same floor.
Gavin had one buddy from church in his cabin so he was thankful to know someone too. And his counselor seemed really nice.
Every day I would get online and look at the pictures from the day to spot my kiddos. They had fun zip lining, doing archery, playing games, swimming, crafts, and learning about God. The three days were long without them at home, but it was a nice time for Frank and I to have multiple date nights. :)
When I went to pick them up, Hadley ran out of the cabin and darted to me. I missed them so much!
They each got a cabin award.
Ellie got the Confidence award. They said it was evident all week that she had strong confidence in God. "So do not throw away your confidence which has a great reward. For you need endurance, so that after you have done God's will, you may receive what was promised." Heb 10: 35-36
Gavin got the listener award. They said he was such a great listener and camper all week and always did as he was told. "Listen, my sons, to a father's discipline, and pay attention so that you may gain understanding..." Proverbs 4:1
And Hadley got the highest cabin award given, the "I am third" award. They said she put God first, others second and herself last all week. I was so proud of her. "Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." Phil 2: 3-4
The kids all three came home begging me to sign them up for another session this summer. And they said they are ready to do a full week next year. I'm not sure Mama will be ready though...we'll see...
Carolina Creek is an amazing place and the kids had an incredible experience!!
